Gorillaz appeared at Zepp DiverCity in Tokyo on Friday evening. The group treated the Japanese audience to a complete performance of their upcoming new album The Now Now, which is due out this Friday, June 29.
The opening set included extensive visuals as Damon Albarn began by leading the collective on the previously shared single “Humility.” The band also played the LP’s prior issued singles “Lake Zurich,” “Sorcererz,” “Fire Flies” and “Hollywood” — the last of which featured Jamie Principle onstage and Snoop Dogg appearing on screen.
The rest of the songs on the 11-track The Now Now rounded the opening set. The show concluded with a guest-filled encore featuring several classic Gorillaz originals such as “Dirty Harry” with Bootie Brown, “Feel Good Inc.” with De La Soul and “Clint Eastwood.”
