The late Prince’s famed Rave Un2 the Year 2000 concert that was originally broadcast on December 31, 1999 will air on PBS this Saturday, June 1. Rave Un2 the Year 2000 features guest appearances from such luminaries as Maceo Parker, Lenny Kravitz and Morris Day and The Time.
Prince recorded the special at some point in December of 1999 at his Paisley Park Studios facility in Minnesota. The 23-song performance was then aired through In Demand Pay-per-view on New Year’s Eve. With a runtime of 113 minutes, Rave Un2 the Year 2000 includes such Prince favorites as “Let’s Go Crazy,” “Kiss,” “Purple Rain” and “Raspberry Beret.” Fittingly, the concert concluded with “1999.”
