Primus Releases Official ‘Ænema’ Live Video Featuring Members Of Tool & QOTSA

As previously reported, Primus recently held a special benefit concert featuring Tool drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor, as well as Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen joining the band at The Belasco in Los Angeles. Official pro-shot video was made available of their collaborative performance of the Tool favorite “Ænema.”

The benefit was held in support of film director/musician Jimmy Hayward, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. The special show also featured a performance by Legend of the Seagullmen which includes Hayward, Carey, Mastodon‘s Brent Hinds, and others.

“Every now and again cancer steps into our world and pulverizes the lives of people that are dear to us,” Primus bassist Les Claypool stated. “Such a thing happened a while back with our good friend Jimmy Hayward. Over the past couple years Jimmy has undergone many major surgeries to remove then reconstruct major damage from a cancer that invaded his bones. With a wife and two very young children at hand, Jimmy has shown incredible courage and tenacity in an unbelievably challenging time.”

The intimate performance at The Belasco saw comedian Dean Delray singing lead on AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie,” with Hayward also joining in on guitar. Carey and Primus drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander went all in on a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Moby Dick.”

Claypool left bass duties alone to Chancellor as he wore a horned helmet while singing lead on Ænima track, “Ænema.” Watch pro-shot video of the collaboration below:
