Primus Busts Out Rush Cover In Asheville

By Scott Bernstein Nov 4, 2019 7:23 am PST

Primus returned to the road on Saturday as one of the support acts for the final leg of Slayer‘s farewell tour. The trio’s set at the ExploreAsheville.com Arena in Asheville included a cover of Rush’s “Cygnus X-1.”

While bassist Les Claypool had regularly teased a brief portion of the song from Rush’s 1977 studio album A Farewell To Kings in past years, Saturday marked the most complete performance of “Book I: The Voyage” since April 17, 2000 as per Setlist.FM. Primus played “Cygnus X-1” again last night in Raleigh.
