Primus & Mastodon Bring Tour To Oklahoma City: Photos, Videos & Setlists

Genre-defying acts Primus and Mastodon recently kicked off an extensive tour that will hit both coasts and many cities in between before it wraps up in July. On Tuesday, Oklahoma’s City’s The Criterion hosted the second stop of the run. Nashville rockers All Them Witches kicked off the concert with a short set. Then, experimental metal act Mastodon delivered a 16-song set that featured seven tunes off their 2017 studio album, Emperor Of Sand. Brent Hinds, Brann Dailor, Bill Keliher and Troy Sanders also fit in such classics as “Mother Puncher” off Remission, “Megalodon” from Leviathan and Blood Mountain’s “Bladecatcher” and “Crystal Skull.”

Primus concluded the evening, as they will do for the entire tour. Les Claypool, Larry LaLonde and Tim “Herb” Alexander opened with fan favorites “Those Dammed Blue-Collar Tweekers, Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver,” “Moron TV” and a “Too Many Puppies” > “Sgt. Baker” > “Too Many Puppies” sequence. The trio then treated the audience to a complete performance of The Desaturating Seven, their most recent studio album. Primus followed with Pork Soda’s “Welcome To This World” and then served up the beloved “My Name Is Mud” and “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver.” The trio concluded the set with “Harold Of The Rocks” and then ended the evening with an encore of “Spegetti Western” and “Mr. Knowitall.” Photographer Phil Clarkin shared a full gallery of images from Oklahoma City:
