YouTube user WV Monster shared a video of Primus performing “Lacquer Head” on The Family Values Tour 1999. The footage was pulled from the 2003 Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People DVD and has been upscaled to high definition.

The Family Values Tour was a rock and hip-hop tour held by nu metal band Korn. With it’s inaugural year in 1998, The Family Values Tour in 1999 included Primus as well as headliners Limp Bizkit, whose frontman Fred Durst produced the studio version of “Lacquer Head.”

The song appeared on Primus’ 1999 album Antipop, which arrived in October 1999. Primus enlisted a number of producers for tracks on the album including Durst as well as Tom Waits, Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, The Police’s Stewart Copeland and more.

In the intro to Primus’ “Lacquer Head” performance, bassist Les Claypool says, “I think that ‘Lacquer Head’ is sort of a combination of ‘Those Damn Blue-Collar Tweekers,’ ‘My Name Is Mud’ and ‘Jellikit.’”
