Pretend Friend is on tour now in support of their recently released studio album, Reflections In Question. The progressive bluegrass band from Wichita, Kansas is made up of guitarist/lead singer Grant Boesen, mandolinist Evan Ogborn, upright bassist Brody Wellman and banjoist Garrett Briggeman.

Boesen founded Pretend Friend in 2015 and two years later began releasing new music and touring. The quartet won the band competition at the Walnut Valley Festival 2020 in Winfield, Kansas. Ogborn was named the 2021 Kansas Mandolin Champion.

Pretend Friend issued Reflections In Question on September 17, 2021. Previous releases include their 2018 self-titled debut album, its 2019 follow-up, Unnatural Currents and their third full-length, Pretend Friend & Friends, which arrived in 2020.

“Pretend Friend respects tradition and its musical heritage while consistently breaking new ground,” said Jedd Beaudoin, host/producer of Strange Currency KMUW (NPR), Wichita, KS. “The combination of expert writing and outstanding musicianship places the band in rarified company — one of those bands that wows fellow musicians with its acumen and leaves everyone tapping their toes and singing along to songs that seem to have always been.”

Don’t miss Pretend Friend on tour now in support of Reflections In Question.
