While Ohio Governor John Kasich didn’t fare too well in the recent Iowa caucus as he aims to earn the Republican nomination in a run for president, he’s going after the rock vote with a promise he’ll “once and for all try to reunite Pink Floyd to come together and play a few songs.”
As Consequence of Sound reports, Kasich spoke with CNN on Tuesday where talk turned to the best concert he ever attended. Kasich told CNN Roger Waters’ performance of The Wall wins that honor and then made his promise about reuniting Pink Floyd. Watch how it went down:
The problem is guitarist David Gilmour said that band is “done” back in August. “I’m done with it. I’ve had 48 years in Pink Floyd — quite a few of those years at the beginning, with Roger (Waters),” he told Classic Rock Magazine. “And those years in what is now considered to be our heyday were 95 per cent musically fulfilling and joyous and full of fun and laughter. And I certainly don’t want to let the other five per cent color my view of what was a long and fantastic time together. But it has run its course, we are done – and it would be fakery to go back and do it again.” Plus, Pink Floyd’s founding keyboardist Richard Wright died in 2008. Despite Kasich’s best efforts, we bet the band’s set at Live 8 in 2005 will stand as the final Pink Floyd performance.
