Preservation Hall Jazz Band will embark on the A Tuba To Cuba tour this fall. The run comes in support of the forthcoming soundtrack for the A Tuba To Cuba documentary, which was directed by T.G. Herrington and Danny Clinch.

As the name implies, A Tuba To Cuba documents the band’s 2015 trip to Cuba. Ben Jaffee planned the voyage as a way of fulfilling his late father’s dream of heading to Cuba and exploring the music that helped birth New Orleans Jazz. Here’s what Ben had to say about A Tuba To Cuba:

“When we travel to a place like Cuba, not only do we get to share our music, but we also get to experience other music, other traditions, and other’s rituals. It’s a door that we get to walk through and every now and then we get a glimpse behind the curtain. The people we meet become our friends and family. The imprint they leave becomes a part of us and our music, it’s a rare and beautiful thing. Now we get to share that experience with you.”

The fall portion of PHJB’s tour begins at The Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, Connecticut. PHJB then hits Red Bank (New Jersey), New York City, Boston, Portsmouth (New Hampshire), Montreal, Toronto, Pittsburgh and Kent (Ohio). The tour continues with stops in Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Colorado, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon and Washington. Finally, Preservation Hall Jazz Band will play three nights at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore November 29 – December 1.
