Premiere – Phish Drive-In Set At Magnaball Video

By Scott Bernstein Aug 26, 2015 11:00 am PDT

On Saturday night Phish continued a festival tradition by performing an unannounced, late-night set at Magnaball, the band’s tenth major festival which took place at Watkins Glen International race track over the weekend. The all-improv set found the quartet performing behind a screen on one of the track’s grandstands that was converted into a “Drive-In Movie Theater” for the festival. We’re pleased to premiere footage of the set captured by videographer LazyLightning55.

The set began around 1 a.m. about 90 minutes after Phish completed their third set of the day on the main stage. LazyLightning55 captured most of the Drive-In set but did run out of battery a few minutes before the band left the stage. Not much music was missed as the set ended shortly after the camera’s battery died. The videographer moved the camera around here and there to give a feel for the scene at the unannounced performance. Around the 24-minute mark the band comes into focus but for the most part the screen displayed wild imagery that provided a psychedelic visual to go along with the deeply-jammed music Phish laid down.
