Post Malone & Chris Stapleton Kick Off 2024 CMA Awards With Rollicking ‘California Sober’

The pair performed their duet from Malone’s 2024 album, F-1 Trillion, at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Post Malone and Chris Stapleton teamed up to open the 2024 Country Music Association Awards (CMAs) on Wednesday with a rousing rendition of “California Sober.” Stapleton helped write the song, which appears on Malone’s recently released F-1 Trillion country album.

The 58th annual CMAs were held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Peyton Manning, Luke Bryan and Lainey Wilson co-hosted the broadcast, which aired live on ABC.

F-1 Trillion arrived on August 16, 2024 and featured guest appearances from Stapleton, Wilson, Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll, Billy Strings, Dolly Parton and many others. “California Sober” was co-written by Malone, Stapleton, Charlie Handsome, Louis Bell and Mark Holman.

Chris Stapleton took home four trophies at the CMAs, including song and single of the year for “White Horse.” Post Malone left without any wins despite his four nominations.

Post Malone will embark on The Big Ass Stadium Tour in April. The trek will hit 25 stadiums across North America from April 29 through July 1. Malone tapped Jelly Roll and Sierra Ferrell to support on select dates.
