Seattle’s own Polyrhythmics returned to KEXP studios in November 2023 to perform for the Live on KEXP series. The funk outfit offered songs from their 2023 album Filter System for the Seattle listener-powered radio station.

Filter System arrived on September 29. The title references Polyrhythmics’ democratic songwriting and arranging process. The band — Ben Bloom, drummer Grant Schroff, keyboardist Nathan Spicer, bassist Jason Gray, trumpeter Scott Morning, trombonist Elijah Clark and saxophonist Art Brown — delivered four songs from the new record during their KEXP session.

Polyrhythmics kicked things off with the first track they released from Filter System, “Roller.” The band followed with the album’s “Wet Leather” and “Clydesdale” before closing the session with Filter System single, “Funky Miracle.”
