Pink Talking Fish held a special “PTF Meets The Beatles” concert at the Troubadour in West Hollywood on Friday night featuring the Pink Floyd/Talking Heads/Phish tribute band also incorporating the music of The Beatles into the mix. Guitarist Duane Betts was enlisted by the band for the special performance at the storied Los Angeles club.
Betts made his first appearance with PTF Friday night for the final two songs of the first set. Betts initially assisted on a cover of “Possum” by Phish. The guest guitarist stuck around for the subsequent offering of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” which prominently featured Betts and has been covered by Phish. The song was one of several by The Beatles played on Friday night among the band’s typical blend of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads and Phish.

The second Betts sit-in occurred at the start of the show’s encore. Betts joined in on a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Quinn the Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn),” which Phish has played a few times. Betts exited before a transition into The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise).” PTF then ended the encore with “A Day In The Life,” another The Beatles song also covered by Phish.
