The Last Time Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, David Gilmour & Nick Mason Shared The Stage Together

The likelihood of a reunion by the surviving members of Pink Floyd – Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason – seems as likely as a pig flying over Battersea Power Station. An ongoing feud between Waters, who celebrates his 80th birthday today, and Gilmour has escalated in recent years, burying any hope of reconciliation that would lead to their performing together again.

The last time Waters, Gilmour, Mason and Pink Floyd co-founder Richard Wright performed together was on July 2, 2005, in London’s Hyde Park as part of the Live 8 concert. Prior to that, Waters had not appeared with Pink Floyd since the final show of The Wall Tour at Earls Court London on June 17, 1981. Wright died in 2008, leaving the Live 8 concert as the final performance by Pink Floyd to date.

Since then, Waters and Gilmour have shared the stage on a few occasions. The first time they teamed up after Live 8 was in June 2010 when they performed together at Kiddington Hall in Oxfordshire, England at an event raising funds for the HOPING Foundation, which supports Palestinian children.

Just shy of one year later, Waters and Gilmour again performed together, and this time they were also joined by Mason. The May 12, 2011 concert at London’s O2 Arena was part of Waters’ Wall Live Tour in which each show included a complete performance of the Pink Floyd album, The Wall.

Waters brought out Gilmour to play his signature guitar part on The Wall standout “Comfortably Numb.” Gilmour returned at the end of the concert for the “Outside The Wall” finale. Mason joined in on tambourine, while Gilmour played mandolin and Waters played trumpet in a single line across the stage with the rest of Waters’ band.
