Pigeons Playing Ping Pong will play their next batch of shows with Twiddle‘s Zdenek Gubb. The move comes as PPPP bassist Ben Carrey will take a hiatus from touring due to “personal reasons.”
“With the band’s full support, Ben will be taking some time off the road for personal reasons,” Carrey’s bandmates wrote in a statement. “Though he will be greatly missed, we all agreed that the shows must go on! That said, we’re excited to jam with our longtime frend Zdenek Gubb for the next batch of shows, starting tomorrow in his home state of Vermont at Jeezum Crow Festival. Please join us in sending love to Ben, and get ready for some extra funky lemonade with Gubb!”
Ben Carrey co-founded Pigeons Playing Ping Pong with guitarist/vocalist Greg Ormont, lead guitarist Jeremy Schon and drummer Dan Schwartz in the late-2000s. Current drummer Alex “Gator” Petropulos replaced Schwartz in 2015.
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s most recent gig was an appearance at last month’s Northlands festival in Swanzey, New Hampshire. The band’s set at Jeezum Crow in Jay, Vermont on Friday will be followed by a show in Virginia Beach on July 24, performance at Nevada’s Gambler’s Run Music Festival next weekend and hometown show in Baltimore on August 1. PPPP are then off until August 22.
