What the heck is Indie-Roots music?
Pickathon defines Indie-Roots as the subjective and diverse intersections of Indie Rock, Singer Songwriter, and a variety of traditional music styles (i.e. Bluegrass, Blues, Folk, Country, Swing, etc.).
The 2007 lineup is as eclectic as ever including:
The Avett Brothers, The Wood Brothers, The Gourds, Erin Mckeown, Dale Watson, Gregory and the Hawk, Martha Scanlan, Handsome Family, langhorne slim, Horse Feathers, Chatham County Line, Jason Webley, Hacienda Brothers, Crooked Jades, Weary Boys, Trampled By Turtles, Little Country Giants, Po’ Girl, Alela Diane, Ian Thomas, Sassparilla, Hunger Mtn. Boys, Danny Barnes, Caleb Klauder, Tallboys, Captain Bogg and Salty, Two Man Gentlemen Band, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, the Breakmen, and many more!
The 2007 Pickathon experience is extending to a third full day (Sunday August 5) as it returns for a second year to the now famous Pendarvis Farm, where Pickathon was nominated for the 2007 “Festie” award in the category of “Most Scenic Festival Setting.”
As usual, you can expect to find a whole lot more than just beautiful music including:workshops, kid’s activities, camping, hiking, square-dancing, a variety of wholesome food, Lagunitas Beer, Cooper Mountain Wine, sustainability practices, and a number of unique vendors.
Sustainability leadership will again be a big theme for Pickathon with a number of new programs being initiated and refined in the areas of alternative transportation, energy, recycling, and education.
As part of the warm-up to the 2007 festival, Pickathon created the first ever festival video game entitled “Lob Stuff at the Lurker”, which set a website traffic record the day it was posted.
