Smashing Pumpkins & Liz Phair :: 04.04.16 :: Beacon Theatre :: New York, NY
On Monday, the The Smashing Pumpkins brought their current In Plainsong Tour of acoustic and electric performances to the Beacon Theatre in New York City for the first of three consecutive shows at the venue. Alt-rocker Liz Phair kicked off the action with a set of her own. Then, Billy Corgan started the Smashing Pumpkins set by himself for a series of solo acoustic songs before welcoming his band mates at first on unplugged numbers before ending the evening with full-on electric performances. Smashing Pumpkins mixed originals such as “Tonight, Tonight,” “Today,” “Soma,” “Rocket” and “Mayonaise” with a few covers including David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and “Angie” by The Rolling Stones. Photographer Joe Russo was on hand to capture scenes from last night’s show, view his gallery below.
