Boulder’s Fox Theatre hosted a special version of the Grateful Ball on Friday. The evening started with a set from Yonder Mountain String Band’s Adam Aijala joined by Drew Emmitt, Andy Thorn and Greg Garrison of Leftover Salmon. The quartet played a diverse mix of songs and brought out Ronnie McCoury and Jason Carter of The Travelin’ McCourys at the end of the set for “New Country Blues” > “Pockets” > “New Country Blues.”

The Travelin’ McCourys then played a set of their own and welcomed fiddler Justin Hoffenberg for the set-closing pairing of “Vamp In The Middle” and “Why Did You Wander.” Friday’s third set was a “Grateful Ball” tribute to the Grateful Dead featuring all of the evening’s musicians contributing to such Grateful Dead repertoire gems as “Cumberland Blues,” “Brown Eyed Women,” “Friend Of The Devil” and “Loose Lucy.” Check out photographer Jeremy Williams’ images from Saturday night:
