Anders Osborne & American Babies :: 2.26.16 :: Capitol Theatre :: Port Chester, NY

New Orleans guitarist Anders Osborne brought his band to The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Saturday night for their first-ever headlining gig at the historic venue. Tom Hamilton’s American Babies kicked off the evening with a set of roots-rock that included takes on “Winter War Games,” “They Sing Old Time Religion” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City.” Osborne, whose current band features guitarist Eric McFadden, alternated between acoustic-based numbers and electrified rockers. At points Anders and Eric shared the stage alone before the rest of the group (keyboardist Danny Eisenberg, drummer Brady Blade and bassist Carl Dufrene) came out. Osborne showed off original songs from throughout his career with a focus on newer material as well as a handful of choice covers such as Bob Dylan’s “Masters Of War” and the Grateful Dead’s “Bertha.” American Babies front man and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist Tommy Hamilton added to the Dead cover.
