Dominican Holidaze :: 12.5.15 :: Breathless Resort & Spa :: Punta Cana, DR

Saturday was a big day for the 2015 installment of Dominican Holidaze at the Breathless Resort & Spa in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. All three headliners – Umphrey’s McGee, the Disco Biscuits and STS9 – performed along with a Poolside DJ set from Gigamesh and a late night DJ set by Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch. Activities included a game of tag football with UM’s Ryan Stasik and Joe Cummins and a dune buggy adventure led by tDB guitarist Jon “The Barber” Gutwillig.

Umphrey’s kicked off the Main Stage action with a set as the sun went down. The band started with a focus on material from their last few album cycles before ending the set with the dream sequence of classics “Much Obliged” > “Glory” > “Hajimemashite.” UM came out for an encore of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” joined by the Lettuce Shady Horn section of Eric “Benny” Bloom and Ryan Zoidis. Next up was a pair of sets from STS9 who mixed fan favorites with more recent material. The band noted it was their 100th show since bassist Alana Rocklin came aboard and played the fitting “Family Affair.” Two jam-filled sets of Bisco closed out the Main Stage last night including the dub version of “Mindless Dribble,” a take on Ott’s remix of their own “Konkrete,” an inverted rendition of rarity “Down To The Bottom” and a “Helicopters” encore.

Holidaze concludes today with activities, excursions, a sunset show from the STS9 followed by sets from Umphrey’s McGee, Lettuce and Gigamesh (DJ Set). Head here for coverage of Thursday and here for Friday at Dominican Holidaze.
