Phil Lesh & Friends Stu Allen’s Birthday Celebration :: 02.02.16 :: Terrapin Crossroads :: San Rafael, CA

On Tuesday night Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh held a special Phil Lesh & Friends performance at his Terrapin Crossroads venue in San Rafael, California celebrating celebrating Stu Allen’s birthday. With a lineup rounded out by guitarist Ross James, keyboardist Scott Guberman, drummer Alex Koford and fiddle player Boyd Tinsley of the Dave Matthews Band, the ensemble delivered one long set and encore in the Grate Room. Highlights included Tinsley’s additions to a wild “Cumberland Blues,” a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Bitch” and a “China Cat Sunflower,” “Viola Lee Blues,” “Saint Stephen,” “I Know You Rider” segment to close the set. Photographer Sterling Munksgard was on hand to capture the evening, including a bar set performed by Mark Karan and Eric DiBerardino.
