On Friday and Saturday nights The New Mastersounds guitarist Eddie Roberts hosted his latest pair of The Payback benefit concerts at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. Roberts lived for a period of time in The Tenderloin district of San Francisco and was personally touched by the homeless situation within the community. The guitarist put together the benefits to raise funds for Compass Family Services, an organization that has supported San Francisco’s vulnerable and homeless families for the last 100 years. Photographer Susan Weiand was on hand Friday night to capture the action which saw Euforquestra open and Roberts joined by drummer Zigaboo Modeliste of The Meters, keyboardist Robert Walter of Mike Gordon/Greyboy Allstars, bassist Reed Mathis of Billy & The Kids/Tea Leaf Green, percussionist Mike Dillon, trumpeter/vocalist Jennifer Hartswick of the Trey Anastasio Band, Orgone vocalist Adyron de Leon and West Coast Horns Mike Olmos and Daniel Casares.
