New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival Day 4

The first day of the second weekend of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival began Thursday and featured a performance by the Voice Of The Wetlands All-Stars which includes Tab Benoit, Anders Osborne, Waylon Thibodeaux, Johnny Sansone and other including George Porter Jr. who also performed with his Runnin’ Pardners outfit. Jam rockers Widespread Panic delivered one long set that showcased the rarely played James Taylor cover “Knocking ‘Round The Zoo,” as well as a sequence that strung together “Gimme” > “Proving Ground” > “Surprise Valley” > “Tie Your Shoes” > “Surprise Valley” > “Angels On High.”

Renowned trumpeter Herb Alpert and his vocalist wife Lani Hall also performed in NOLA Thursday as did Bay Area legends Tower Of Power. Day four also saw sets by Irvin Mayfield, Big Chief Donald Harrison, Jr., Cedric Burnside Project, Eric Lindell, Ms. Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton and more.
