Phish’s Trey Anastasio Gives 1988 Goddard College Graduation Speech: Video

Goddard College shared video of Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio‘s 1988 graduation speech. The newly posted footage was filmed on August 28, 1988 at Haybarn Theater on the Goddard campus.
The brief speech features Trey speaking about his transfer from the University Of Vermont, where Phish formed in 1983, to Goddard where fellow Phish members Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman also attended, as well as Page McConnell who had enrolled prior to the others and received a $50 finders fee for recruiting them. Anastasio thanks his family, mentioning his mother, father, step-mother and grandparents. Trey specifically calls out his sister Kristy Anastasio Manning, who died in 2009 after a battle with cancer.
