Phish shared pro-shot video of the majestic and expansive “Simple” from Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The monstrous version, which came complete with an “Egg In A Hole Jam,” was played during the first set of the band’s fourth and final April 2022 concert at MSG.

The quartet wasted little time breaking through the song’s normal boundaries as they slickly moved between blissful and evil-tinged jam spaces. At one point, drummer Jon Fishman hinted at “Party Time” and guitarist Trey Anastasio followed along. However, Phish continued exploring new sonic ground.
Around the 17-minute mark, bassist Mike Gordon started singing “we’ve got it simple” over a particularly dark and powerful progression. Phish then locked in and took a quick spin through “Egg In A Hole,” a song debuted as part of the band’s Sci-Fi Soldier Halloween set in Las Vegas on October 31, 2021. The brief “Egg In A Hole Jam” eventually led into the end of “Simple.”
