Phish has released pro-shot video of their nearly 20-minute “Simple” from the first night of their run at Bangor, Maine’s Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion. The clip from Summer Tour 2019 was captured on June 25 at the front-end of the Vermont band’s second set.

“Simple” followed the unfinished, set-opening “Down With Disease,” which transitioned into “Play By Play.” After a six-minute take on the Kasvot Växt tune, the group deftly transitioned into the Mike Gordon-penned live favorite, marking a highlight of the show as a whole. The first half of the tune featured a melodic and cascading Type-I jam, offering a lyric segment after the song’s more rock-focused start. From there, the band took the improvisation in a more ambient direction, savoring the spacious portion before building into a climax at the final quarter of the number. Following the song’s peak, “Simple” moved into a dark and exploratory improvisation before landing in “Piper.”
