A note on the Phish Facebook page announced the sad news that the band’s security chief Bill Woytovich has died. Woytovich, who took the position with Phish in 2014, succumbed to cancer on Sunday morning.
Those who lined up early for general admission Phish shows probably are familiar with Bill as Woytovich helped ensure early-comers followed the rules. He was also a regular presence on “Shakedown Street” within Phish show parking lots and a number of fans responding to news of Woytovich’s death noted how well he treated him. Bill was also a top safety team member for Cloud 9 Adventures and helped run security at a number of festivals across the country and beyond.
Bill Woytovich, a touring veteran and a member of Phish’s security team, succumbed this morning after a courageous battle with cancer. A consummate professional, Bill looked after the band and fans alike, and will be greatly missed,” reads the note from Phish on Facebook. Our thoughts go out to Bill’s friends and family.
