While Phish isn’t performing tonight for Halloween, they seemingly unveiled a treat for fans. A studio version of last year's Sci-Fi Soldier musical costume Get More Down appeared today on digital streaming platforms credited to … Sci-Fi Soldier.
The band has yet to acknowledge the 12-track LP’s existence. While credits attached to Get More Down on Spotify leave the “Written By” and “Produced By” fields blank, the source is Phish’s JEMP Records imprint. Apple Music gives the copyright to Phish Inc. No other details of what is likely the 16th studio album from the quartet consisting of guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman and keyboardist Page McConnell have been announced. However, an Instagram account for Sci-Fi Soldier has launched pointing towards the album:
Phish debuted the 12-song suite as their second set on Halloween 2021 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The Sci-Fi Soldier set continued a tradition of musical costumes that dates back to a 1994 performance of The Beatles’ The White Album in Glens Falls, New York. Get More Down saw Phish play as a band from the year 4680 that came from another planet.
