Phish’s Mike Gordon Talks Potential Touring Plans With Freekbass
By Scott Bernstein Mar 15, 2021 • 8:58 am PDT

Phish bassist Mike Gordon was Freekbass‘ special guest this past Saturday on SATURDAY-NITE-ChitChat With Freekbass. Gordon shared his thoughts on when Phish and the rest of the music world could tour again towards the end of the weekly variety show.
“In terms of the feelings I’m getting from talking to music business people, they’re getting a little bit confident,” Gordon said. “There’s some venues around the world that are opening to 75% capacity and Broadway is going to open soon and some promoters are actually booking some outdoor amphitheater shows, so fall I give it a ‘maybe,'” Mike added. “End of the year, beginning of next year it’s looking more promising.”

“I’m definitely getting hungry, like we all are, to jam and be with people. But I’m okay, I can last a little bit longer,” Mike stated. “On the darker side, you hear about Brazil and how terrible things are going and variants and that [they] can’t control it and undermining the work of the other countries and that’s a little sad. So, I won’t get overconfident. I won’t really believe it till I see it but something’s gotta give, probably.”
Mike also discussed his start as a musician, how he has kept creative during the pandemic, the first concert he saw and more. Watch the latest SATURDAY-NITE-ChitChat With Freekbass variety show below with Gordon coming in around the 15:28 mark and talking the future of touring at the 33-minute mark here.
