Phish lyricist Tom Marshall recently established a podcast called Under The Scales. The latest installment of the series features a chat between Marshall and Phantasy Tour founder Paul Glace.

Phantasy Tour allows fans to participate in a fantasy sports-style game for live concerts for bands such as Phish, the Disco Biscuits, Widespread Panic, moe., The String Cheese Incident, Umphrey’s McGee and others. Boasting over 170,000 registered users, Glace’s website also hosts a number of popular fan forums.

The podcast discussion covers Glace’s first Phish show at Penn State University in April 1994. He also explains the seminal moments following his graduation from PSU that ultimately led to his founding Phantasy Phish and later expanding to Phantasy Tour. Tom and Paul get into the criteria for bands such as Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Twiddle being added to the PT domain as well as the possibility of more community involvement as the site continues to expand.

Marshall reveals he has not participated in the Phantasy Tour game but is known to contribute to the site’s forums. They explore some of the approaches PT has taken and will take to moderate and deal with controversy that comes from offense posts on the message boards. The pair get into favorite PT users and more, have a listen to the chat here:
