By Scott Bernstein Nov 21, 2016 • 9:30 am PST

Earlier this month Phish lyricist Tom Marshall launched a new podcast titled Under The Scales. The latest installment of the series features a chat between Marshall and “unofficial Phish statistician” David “ZZYZX” Steinberg.
Steinberg, aka “The Timer,” has caught over 300 Phish shows since the late ’80s and in 2014 released This Has All Been Wonderful: A Travel Monologue from Summer 1994, the Year Phish Became Phish. David talked about his at times tenuous relationship with the band, how he was recruited by Trey Anastasio to provide cover art for an album, where his nicknames came from and many other topics.
