See Phish ‘Light’ Up ‘Piper’ & Surf ‘Ruby Waves’ In Mexico

Phish shared a pair of pro-shot videos documenting highlights from their recent Riviera Maya run at the Moon Palace in Cancún, Mexico. The clips include “Light” and “Piper” from night three and “Ruby Waves” from night two.

“Ruby Waves” made its debut in Mexico on February 24, 2023. The song crashed out of “Waves,’ marking the first “Waves” > “Ruby Waves” and completing a trifecta of “wave” songs that night along with “A Wave Of Hope.” The three “wave” songs were among six that surpassed 15-minutes that night with “Ruby Waves” the longest at roughly 20 minutes.

Phish also released video of “Light” > “Piper” from February 25. Phish debuted “Piper” in public on June 14, 1997, while the first “Light” came on May 31, 2009. Just a few months after the “Light” debut came the only “Light” > “Piper” (Charlottesville 12/5/2009) until last weekend, although the band has flipped the script and done “Piper” > “Light” a few times. Both songs clocked in just under the 10-minute mark in Mexico.
