This month marks 20 years since Phish played what was billed as their final shows before breaking up with two concerts at Newport State Airport in Coventry, Vermont. While the band did return five years later to start a chapter of their career that continues today, Coventry and the massive traffic issues that plagued the event are the focus of a new fan-made documentary fittingly entitled JAM.

The 30-minute documentary short film premiered this weekend with screenings in Coventry, Vermont. JAM was released to the public today and is available for rent and purchase via Vimeo On Demand.

Longtime fan Alex Daltas narrated, directed, edited and co-produced JAM. The film is based on extensive footage he shot of Coventry, purportedly the most comprehensive account of the traffic jam. Daltas’ footage is enhanced by archival clips from the past two decades and retrospective interviews.

JAM includes on-camera interviews with several fans who attended Coventry including renowned outdoorsman and motivational speaker Aron Ralston. The event’s promoter, Dave Werlin, also sat for an interview featured in the film as did retired Vermont State Police Sgt. Bruce Melendy (key figure in managing the crisis), spokesman Adam Lewis and Matt Maxwell of Maxwell’s Neighborhood Farm (concert venue).
