Phish Archivist Kevin Shapiro Previewing Next ‘Live Phish’ Archival Release On Phish Radio
Update: Phish will release Santa Fe 1993 on Friday.
Phish archivist Kevin Shapiro will reveal and play highlights from the band’s next LivePhish live archival release on SiriusXM’s Phish Radio later today. Shapiro’s special From The Archives episode will premiere on Phish Radio (Channel 29) at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.
The forthcoming LivePhish set is due out this Friday, May 15 via LivePhish.com. While the contents of the release won’t be announced until Shapiro’s Phish Radio appearance, the artwork shared in a tweet heralding today’s From The Archives broadcast includes a symbol similar to the Zia sun symbol found on the New Mexico State Flag.
Phish has played seven shows in New Mexico over the course of their career. The quartet made their New Mexico debut at Santa Fe’s Club West on October 26, 1991 and returned six months later for a show at Albuquerque’s El Rey Theater on April 8, 1992. A tour opening for Santana the following summer brought Phish to Las Cruces on August 20, 1992 and Santa Fe on August 25, 1992.
Phish came back to the “Land Of Enchantment” for headlining concerts in Santa Fe the next two years at the Sweeney Center on March 8, 1993 and the Paolo Soleri Amphitheatre on May 10, 1994. The band’s only New Mexico show since was held at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces on September 22, 1999.
