This year’s installment of the Wanee Festival continued on Friday at the Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. Phil Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band and Widespread Panic closed out the Peach Stage and each act shared the stage with a guest guitarist.

Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh played two sets with The Terrapin Family Band including vocalist Elliott Peck on Friday afternoon. The group’s first set began with the early Dead pairing of “Born Cross-Eyed” > “Cream Puff War” before they took “Cumberland Blues” for a spin. Guitarist Neal Casal, who had performed with the Chris Robinson Brotherhood earlier in the day, sat-in on the rest of the frame. Casal added to “New Minglewood Blues,” “Ramble On Rose,” “Mr. Charlie,” “The Music Never Stopped” and “Scarlet Begonias.”

Phil & The Terrapin Family Band opened their final performance of the Friday with a Grahame Lesh-sung “Estimated Prophet” and the original “Galilee.” The GD bassist then fronted “Unbroken Chain” ahead of the group linking “The Other One” with “He’s Gone” and then “Morning Dew.” Lesh’s group ended the second set with “I Know You Rider.”

Widespread Panic played one marathon 153-minute set. The band’s performance included a wild “Driving Song” segment that included “Disco,” “Porch Song,” “Drums,” “Greta” and “Space Wrangler” within. “Blight” came next ahead of a set-closing run of “North” and “Action Man.” When Panic returned to the stage for their encore, they were joined by North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson. Luther joined WSP for Howlin’ Wolf’s “Smokestack Lightning.” The Georgia rockers then said farewell with “Climb To Safety.”

The Wanee Festival ends on Saturday with more from Widespread Panic and Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band as well as sets from As The Crow Flies, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Soul Rebels, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe Presents: A Bunch Of Peaches and others.
