Phil Lesh Presents ‘Thunder & Lightning’ At Terrapin Crossroads

By Scott Bernstein Jan 30, 2017 9:02 am PST

Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh led a concert with the theme “Thunder & Lightning” at his Terrapin Crossroads venue in San Rafael, California last night. Lesh was joined by an impressive cast of guitarist Stu Allen, vocalist Nicki Bluhm, guitarist Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, drummer Alex Koford and multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby for the Sunday night show in Terrapin’s Grate Room.

The one-set concert began with Stu Allen leading the ensemble on “Reuben & Cerise.” Allen was also upfront for “Stagger Lee” ahead of Nicki stepping into the lead vocalist spotlight on “West L.A. Fadeaway.” A Stu-sung “Casey Jones” was next before a rare standalone “The Other One.” Lebo and Bluhm then shared vocals on the Brent Mydland tune “Just A Little Light.” The concert rolled on with “Shakedown Street” and “Cold Rain & Snow.” A cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” led into “Morning Dew” to close out the main set. Lesh and his band ended the evening with an “Uncle John’s Band” encore.
