Phil Lesh & Friends Re-Create 1971 Grateful Dead Show
By Scott Bernstein Mar 2, 2015 • 6:30 am PST

Lesh’s ensemble utilized the same setlist the Grateful Dead used at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan on December 14, 1971. The quintet rolled through each and every song the Dead played that night including the Christmas classic “Run Run Rudolph,” which was sung by special guest Ross James. James also led the group through “Mr. Charlie,” “Big Boss Man” and “Next Time You See Me.” Allen handled most of the Garcia vocals throughout the evening, while Metzger sang a number of Weir tunes.
