Phil Lesh & Friends headlined the Sunday Daydream Vol. 3 event at McNears Beach Park in San Rafael, California on Sunday. The band ran through a slew of Grateful Dead classics for the first of two Sunday Daydream events this summer.

The Phil & Friends lineup Sunday featured guitarist Grahame Lesh, guitarist Stanley Jordan, guitarist Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, keyboardist Jason Crosby and drummer John Molo. Guitarist Stu Allen and vocalist Elliott Peck also made appearances. The show marked the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s July 21, 1974 concert at Hollywood Bowl.

Phil & Friends played a number of songs from the L.A. Dead show beginning with an improv sequence that led into “Jack Straw” with Phil and Lebo on vocals. Phil then led the ensemble through “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo.”

Next, Elliott Peck got in on the fun for “Scarlet Begonias” ahead of Stu Allen leading the group on an extended “Sugaree.” Midnight North bandmates Grahame Lesh and Elliott Peck teamed on vocals for “Playing in the Band,” which bled into an Allen-led “Wharf Rat.”

Lebo then captained “Truckin’” followed by Stanley Jordan taking the reins on an instrumental rendition of “Over The Rainbow.” Finally, Phil & Friends returned to “Playin” before wrapping the performance with “Sugar Magnolia.”
