Phil Lesh And Friends Let It Bleed In New York City

The heat is out in force trying to bust people, regardless of whether you’re smiling on a cloudy day or not. Be cautious at the Best Buy Phil Lesh and Friends shows this week. We’ve heard of some aggressive, over-the-top police tactics going down in NYC. Use common sense, and know that you’re a target. We want everyone to have a great time.

Phil Lesh & Friends’ current Fall Tour has found the band, along with opening act American Jubilee, weaving songs from classic rock albums into their sets. As the tour moves on to Best Buy Theater in New York City for a five-night stand, the latest iconic LP the bands are working through is the Rolling Stones’ Let It Bleed.

On Sunday night, Phil and his ensemble -which for this tour features guitarists Anders Osborne, Grahame Lesh and Luther Dickinson, keyboardist Jason Crosby and drummer Tony Leone -encored with the first Let It Bleed track: “Gimme Shelter.” Last night, American Jubilee’s set included takes on “Love In Vain” and “Country Honk.” Phil’s two sets contained the next three Let It Bleed songs: “Live With Me,” “Let It Bleed” and “Midnight Rambler.” In addition to the Stones tunes, Phil & Friends worked plenty of non-Dead material into their sets such as a cover of Neil Young’s “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere,” the traditional “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” and Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love?” as well as Dead classics.

There’s still three Let It Bleed tracks yet to be performed.
