The Peter Jackson-directed documentary The Beatles: Get Back will premiere on Disney+ as a series. The long-awaited doc will debut as three episodes over the Thanksgiving holiday November 25 – 27.

The Beatles: Get Back was scheduled to arrive in cinemas this August. The doc will now premiere on Disney+ for fans to enjoy over the holiday weekend due to “the wealth of tremendous footage Peter Jackson has reviewed,” as per a press release.

For three years famed director Peter Jackson has been immersed in Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s original footage documenting The Beatles’ sometimes joyous, sometimes tension-fraught process as they prepped for their first performance in over two years — what would become the iconic rooftop concert in London — and a live album that would transform into their final record, Let It Be, as well as material that would land on the final album they recorded, Abbey Road. The Beatles: Get Back carries the support of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison.

Jackson spoke about The Beatles: Get Back in a statement:

In many respects, Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s remarkable footage captured multiple storylines. The story of friends and of individuals. It is the story of human frailties and of a divine partnership. It is a detailed account of the creative process, with the crafting of iconic songs under pressure, set amid the social climate of early 1969. But it’s not nostalgia – it’s raw, honest, and human. Over six hours, you’ll get to know The Beatles with an intimacy that you never thought possible.

I’m very grateful to The Beatles, Apple Corps and Disney for allowing me to present this story in exactly the way it should be told. I’ve been immersed in this project for nearly three years, and I’m very excited that audiences around the world will finally be able to see it.
