Perpetual Groove Welcomes Al Schnier & Hayley Jane At Brooklyn Bowl

On Friday and Saturday nights, Perpetual Groove returned to what has become their home venue in New York City, Brooklyn Bowl. The band treated the NYC faithful to a pair of shows that featured plenty of old favorites and interesting cover choices as well as an impressive new original. PGroove was also joined by vocalist Hayley Jane and moe. guitarist Al Schnier for a disco era hit on Saturday night.

Hayley Jane and Al’s guest spot took place towards the middle of the second set on Saturday. The pair helped out on a well-jammed cover of KC & The Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight.” There was a handful of other covers played over the course of the weekend including the debut of “Hand Covers Bruise,” a song Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross composed for The Social Network soundtrack as well as David Bowie’s “I’m Afraid Of Americans,” Rage Against The Machine’s “Bulls On Parade” and Peter Gabriel’s “Digging In The Dirt.”

Earlier this month, PGroove headed into the studio to record new material for an album we’ll hopefully see soon. One of the highlights of Saturday’s show was one of the first performances of an original named “Fall.” The tune has the signature Perpetual Groove mix of blissful rock and jamtronica and fits in very nicely with the rest of the band’s repertoire. Saturday also saw guitarist Brock Butler honor Prince by working “Purple Rain” riffs into his “Walking In Place” solo. Next up for the band is a performance at Ziggy’s By The Sea in Wilmington, North Carolina on May 26.
