As the world adapted to life without rock poet Lou Reed, tributes continued flooding in from across the globe. Within our world there were a number of musical tributes last night as My Morning Jacket, Gov’t Mule, Phish, Pearl Jam and The Black Crowes all honored Reed with covers of his incredible material.

Pearl Jam not only tagged their own “Daughter” with a bit of Lou’s “Walk On The Wild Side,” but also debuted a cover of the Velvet Underground’s “Waiting For The Man” as part of a lengthy encore in Baltimore last night. Watch fan-shot video of the cover:

Meanwhile in Hartford, Phish had multiple tributes in store for Reed including a written remembrance from front man Trey Anastasio about meeting Lou in 1992. Listen to the cover of the Velvet’s “Rock And Roll” that started last night’s show, along with Trey’s dedication at the end:

In Reed’s hometown of New York City, The Black Crowes ended their show at Terminal 5 with a double-shot of Velvet Underground covers in “Oh! Sweet Nuthin'” and “What Goes On,” the latter of which was a debut. Watch last night’s take on “Oh! Sweet Nuthin'”:

At the second day of the Bridge School Benefit Concerts, held at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA, My Morning Jacket brought out host Neil Young as well as Elvis Costello and Jenny Lewis for a rendition of “Oh! Sweet Nuthin'” in honor of Lou. Take a look at fan-shot video of the cover:

Warren Haynes and Gov’t Mule dedicated a three-song encore in Eugene, OR to Lou with the run of “Walk On The Wild Side,” “Sweet Jane” and “Waiting For The Man” at the McDonald Theatre. Fans assisted the band in performing “Walk On The Wild Side,” which was reprised at the end of the encore. For “Sweet Jane,” drummer Matt Abts handled lead vocals while Danny Louis held down bass duties and Jorgen Carlsson played drums. Watch how “Walk On The Wild Side” went down:

Yesterday, many bands also re-shared Lou Reed tributes they had performed in the past. Hurray For The Riff Raff posted their cover of “Rock And Roll” from exactly a year ago, when the band performed a spot-on take on the classic track about the now defunct legendary New York City radio station WNEW dressed as the Velvets at the Allways Lounge in their hometown of New Orleans.
