Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready Performs National Anthem At MLS Cup
By Scott Bernstein Nov 11, 2019 • 10:03 am PST
Guitarist Mike McCready of Pearl Jam performed the national anthem before the Seattle Sounders took on Toronto FC for the MLS Cup on Sunday. The hometown team won the game and the championship at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field.
McCready has become the go-to musician for “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Seattle sporting events. The founding member of Pearl Jam has played the anthem at Seahawks and Mariners games and previously performed the song before past Sounders’ games. He’s also treated fans to his Hendrix-esque rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” before University of Washington football games.
