Last night Paul Simon was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live for a record ninth time. The legendary singer-songwriter who was also celebrating his 77th birthday yesterday performed “Can’t Run But” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” on the episode hosted by Seth Meyers.
Simon was backed by yMusic for his first song of the night, performing the version of “Can’t Run But” that is featured on his most recent studio album In Blue Light. For his second song of the night, he looked to the Simon & Garfunkel songbook delivering an emotional version of “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Additionally, during the night’s farewells, the cast brought out a cake to celebrate Simon’s birthday.
