Paul Simon Plays First Show Since Arrest

On Wednesday night NYC native Paul Simon was honored at the 2014 NYU Steinhardt Vision Award Gala, held at the Beacon Theatre on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, and performed a 75-minute set with his band. Those who ponied up the $200 and $300 face value tickets only filled the orchestra of the venue as both the loge and balcony were empty according to Fox News. Simon’s performance marked his return to the stage after he was arrested with wife Edie Brickell following a domestic dispute late last month.

Paul’s set at the Beacon focused on classics from throughout his career such as “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover,” “The Boxer,” “American Tune,” “Late In The Evening,” “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard” and “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes.” Wednesday’s event raised $1.1 million for scholarships to which Simon joked, “After my fee of a million is deducted, that’s $100,000.”
