Paul Simon Announces ‘Homeward Bound – The Farewell Performance’
Legendary singer-songwriter Paul Simon added the final leg of his current Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour back in March with word the last show of the run would be held at a venue to be announced. Today, Simon has revealed he will end his farewell tour at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in the borough of Queens within New York City on Saturday, September 22.
Paul grew up in Queens after moving from Newark at age four. The concert will be the first of its scale held at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in decades. Simon is expected to donate his net-proceeds from the show to a cause that will be announced at a later date. “It seems more like fate than coincidence that I should do the final show on this final tour at Flushing Meadows Corona Park,” Paul Simon said in a statement. “I could have ridden my bike from home to the park in about 20 minutes, when I was a kid. But this is less a goodbye than a farewell. Thank you all for the ride, I had a great time.”
