Paul McCartney Plays First Event At New Sacramento Arena

Last night iconic performer Paul McCartney helped christen the Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento, California. Macca played before a capacity crowd for the first of two consecutive concerts at the brand new arena.

This weekend Paul plays the inaugural Desert Trip festival in Indio, California and the two shows in Sacramento will help him warm up as McCartney has been off the road since August. Last night’s setlist was similar to most on his One On One Tour, which launched earlier this year. Macca opened with “A Hard Day’s Night” and mixed tunes from his time with The Beatles and Wings as well as solo classics.

A particularly cute moment came when Paul brought up a 12-year-old girl and her mother who sported a sign saying, “I’m 12 & I Want To Hold Your Hand.” The little girl burst into tears when McCartney shook her hands:
