Paul McCartney Joins Bruce Springsteen On ‘SNL’

Last night Bruce Springsteen appeared as musical guest on Saturday Night Live for the program’s annual holiday show, hosted this year by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Backed by the E Street Band, The Boss performed two songs as expected, but came back at the end of the show accompanied by Paul McCartney for a surprise bonus performance.

Appearing on SNL for the third time after previous stints in 1992 and 2002, Springsteen and the E Street Band played two songs from The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, a recently issued deluxe edition of his 1980 album The River. The newly issued album cut “Meet Me In The City” was played live for the first time and was later followed by a rendition of the LP’s first song “The Ties That Bind.”

As hosts Fey and Poehler brought the show to an end, Bruce and the E Street Band reappeared along with the entire SNL cast as well as Sir Paul to perform the holiday classic “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.” Watch the three performances below:
