Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard joined Patti Smith on “People Have The Power” during her concert Monday at 3Arena in Dublin. Smith is on tour in Europe celebrating the 50th anniversary of her landmark debut album, Horses.
The show began with Smith performing Horses in full. The 78-year-old singer-songwriter then turned the stage over to her ace band for a three-song sequence of Television covers. Guitarist Lenny Kaye, bassist Tony Shanahan, drummer Jay Dee Daugherty and Smith’s son, guitarist Jackson Smith, played “See No Evil,” “Friction” and “Marquee Moon.”
Patti Smith then returned to finish the concert with a selection of her songs including “Dancing Barefoot,” “Peaceable Kingdom” and “Because The Night,” among others. Hansard emerged for the encore performance of “People Have The Power,” adding acoustic guitar and vocals to the classic anthem.
