Page McConnell Guests With George Porter Jr. At Nectar’s In Burlington

By Scott Bernstein Aug 20, 2016 6:43 am PDT

Just a few weeks after Phish keyboardist Page McConnell made a rare sit-in by joining Twiddle at Burlington’s Waterfront Park, the “Chairman Of The Boards” made another guest appearance in the Vermont city. Page emerged during George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners’ set at Nectar’s on Friday night.

McConnell has played with Porter Jr. a number of times in recent years for a series of Page McConnell & The Meter Men gigs that also featured the bassist’s Meters band mates Leo Nocentelli and Zigaboo Modeliste. Page came out for takes on The Meters’ “Just Kissed My Baby” and Allen Toussaint’s “Sneakin’ Sally Through The Alley” at Nectar’s, a venue where Phish honed their chops with dozens of gigs in the mid to late ’80s.
